American Association of Debt Management Organizations

AADMO is the credit counseling and debt management industry’s largest trade association with nearly 150 members nationwide. Its mission is to promote and ensure the continued operation of credit counseling organizations. AADMO provides its members and consumers with information about the credit and debt counseling industry. AADMO members include : Credit counseling organizations, Debt management organizations, Consumer counselors, Personal finance educators, Credit and Debt Information Publishers, Debt pooling organizations, Debt negotiators, Debt adjusters, Credit counselors, Consumer lawyers and many others.

Certification Process for Our Credit Counselors

Each of our Credit Counselors is certified by Credit Debt Connect, LLC, which offers the Certified Personal Credit Counselor independent training program. The curriculum entails several hours of coursework about the consumer credit industry and the principles of effective credit counseling. Counselors are required to take seven proctored examinations. Six of the examinations test the Counselor’s knowledge and understanding of facts. The seventh examination tests the Counselor’s ability to interpret and apply these facts to actual case studies. The entire certification process is conducted under the control of an Independent Advisory Board comprised of leading experts in the banking and credit card industries. Certification is valid for one year. The Counselor is required to pass an examination each year thereafter in order to be recertified annually.
